Hi all.
I just wanted to let you know of two big, Canadian centric events I'm doing in November. This is sorta the stuff I do with my full time job. I'd really like you to come, or if possible, tell your friends/email lists. The first is happening on Monday, November 9th and acting as the launch of a new project from my organization, CIMA, called 'Canadian Blast Presents'. It's essentially a marketing platform for bands already over, so we can amalgamate and strengthen Canadian content in London. It's at Puregroove Records (5-6 East Smithfields) and performing in DAN MANGAN and KAE SUN, and it's from 7:30PM - 8:45PM, and over by 9PM. Both artists have gigs afterwards, so the curfew will be held strictly.
The second gig is Tuesday, November 24th at The Queen Of Hoxton (1 Curtain Road) and it's the first official 'Canadian Blast Presents', supporting by the website, Muso's Guide. Performing will be SPIRAL BEACH and HEY ROSETTA, alongside British acts THE ARGUMENT AND HOW IT STARTED and one more. It's £5 at the door but tickets are available for £4 at www.wegotickets.com/event/62503. It's starts at 7:30PM and will be over before 11PM.
Links below to all. Really hope you can support this :)

Free talk, sounds good
November 11th 2009
2:00pm - 5:00pm
UEL Docklands Campus
Room EB.3.19
(first floor, main building, turn left upon entering the main square after leaving Cyprus DLR
Cyprus DLR is literally situated at the campus)
Free, All welcome
Has the idea of ‘postmodernism’ left any legacy but that of a generalised capitulation to the demands of liberal capitalism? What can contemporary urbanism learn from the era of unabashed ‘militant modernism’? Is the most controversial living philosopher, Alain Badiou, with his radical re-conceptualisation of Truth, Event and Subject, to be understood as advocating a neo-modernist programme, or something quite different? Can there be any progressive radicalism that does not ultimately embrace the revolutionising logic of modernism?

Spot-le-fy
This is all very exciting! Can someone please invite me to Spotify? (h.stokesy@gmail.com). Don't be shy.
A fifth
For the local contingent of comics fans, there will be a lecture on Osamu Tezuka which I will be attending the afternoon of November 8th.
A Few
1 - My girlfriend (visiting from Montreal) and I are off to see Made in Jamaica at the ICA on Oct. 23rd at 8:45pm. If you share my love of dancehall, soca and so on, it should be a good time. Or perhaps you're morbidly curious as to who can put up with me for over two years of their life.
2 - Pontypool: Oct. 23rd-29th, 31st at the ICA. It's a claustrophobic zombie film occurring in a small radio station in North Ontario. I've actually had the misfortune of being in Pontypool, and can say that it's even terrifying without zombies. If any Canadians or lovers of zombification were interested, I'd be down.
3 - Brian Eno is holding a discussion on creativity at the ICA on November 2nd. I know Christopher's going too, not sure if anyone else has tickets yet.
4 - Slavoj Zizek is lecturing at the ICA on November 23rd. Christopher and I both have tickets already.

Kick-off
Hi everyone.
This is a new blog for us all to air any non-course-related thoughts or social events. Feel free to use if you would like.
I will kick things off by saying:
1. I am keen to go to this. Looks very silly but fun. Does anybody fancy joining me? How about doing it on Halloween?
2. This is a great video. Maybe someone can relate it to the course in some way, in which case I apologise for inappropriately putting it on this social blog.
